Health Youth Act
Posted 3/15/19

Dear Parents,

As you may know, in 2016, the California Healthy Youth Act (AB-329) was passed by the State of California which requires school districts to provide students with integrated, comprehensive, accurate, and unbiased comprehensive sexual health and HIV prevention education at least once in middle school and once in high school.  In the past, districts were required to provide only HIV prevention education once in middle school and once in high school.  With this bill, providing Sexual Health Education is no longer optional.  As a result, the curriculum used in our district in Grades 7-12 was out of compliance.  Teachers from El Roble, Community Day School, Claremont High School, and San Antonio High School met to preview all reviewed curricula and selected Positive Prevention Plus for Middle School (Grades 7-8) and Teen Talk (for Grades 9-12).

As in the past, parents/guardians/caregivers may opt their student out of the instruction via written communication, (email or text is not acceptable).

Parents may preview the selected curriculum and provide feedback on the following dates and times.
